Christmas Apathy...with a Dollop of Mycoprotein!

OMG, I haven't blogged in a month! What's up with that? Well, nothing special really, except that I've been going through a period of serious drop-ass-itis. I basically have felt no motivation to do anything whatsoever, except perhaps sit in front of my fire reading gory novels. One morning, I even put my panties on backwards and didn't have the energy to fix them. I wore them backwards all day. Bet you can't beat that level of lethargy!

Not that we're not having a great time around here. I've been having a blast playing with our new kitty. Pricey is what we like to call a Travelling Kitty. Here he is investigating the sink at Grandma's. (He also fell in the toilet shortly after that but I'll spare you that particular photo....)

We've also been groovin' on some Quorn products that we brought back from Maine, like this "chicken fingers."

I must say, I'm quite jealous of all you fine folks in the US of A who get to buy them all the time. The price is a little steep but as a meat substitute, I think I've never eaten better.

The only thing that's off-putting is reading the back of the box to find out just what the hell we were eating. MYCOPROTEIN??? Yech. Sound like something I scrape from the drip tray under my refrigerator.

Anyway, I was very much put off from blogging for a while as Blogger was being a bitch in regards to posting pictures. Still seems to be the case but I managed to git 'r done this time anyway.

I've got big plans for the new year, so be sure to pop by in about a week so I can tell you all about it. I'll give you a hint: It involves a free trip for two and a whole lot of sinnin'!

Merry Christmas everyone! Peace on earth to all creatures.

I love Quorn's Turk'y Breast... better than Tofurkey to me if you're looking for that 'authentic' taste. Needs gravy though! I can't believe they sell Quorn at my Kroger in the hood a mile away.

I love your blog Tracy, and I'm so glad you wrote again...I was beginning to wonder if you were OK. There are few people that are guaranteed to make me laugh out loud and long with their comedic writing, but you are a genius at it!! And an off-the-hook cook too, may I add. Merry Christmas!

I hear you, I can barely get up these days in the sub zero Alberta winter! By the way, the mycroprotein
in Quoin is mushroom based. I wish we had it here. It has been in Britain for years.

Wait...I didn't think those were vegan...are they? I live in the US so maybe our formulation is different? I thought they had egg in them...I'll have to look at the box again the next time I go to the store.

Well, I had to look that mycroprotein stuff up. It is a fungus. Here is what Quorn has to say about it.

Our quorn products here have egg in them. Those sure look good. Gonna have to ck out the store. Merry Christmas!

I live in the U.K and am vegetarian and have been eating Quorn products since they've come onto the market. I can confirm that Quorn products are 'not suitable for vegans', as it does contain egg whites.

I envy those of you who have access to vital wheat gluten and make your own seitan products - I have to make do with Quorn...which I think is tasteless and has to be covered in a lot of spices to be edible.

I'm glad you're back!

I freaking love Quorn. I spent some time living in the UK where it can be found everywhere. Now back in Canada I get no Quorn love. The roast is awesome, as are the 'chicken' pieces- delish in a stir fry. I know it's scary manufactured fungus... but I just don't care!

Just stumbled on your blog and have busted out laughing several times in the past five minutes. Husband is getting suspicious..

Thanks for sharing your humor-- I think that vegans (or un-vegans, you know) have the reputation of being too serious. I'd love to hear your responses to the bone-headed questions that some people ask.
