Family Backpacking Trip-Cape Chignecto Provincial Park

Well, it's been five days since we got back from our four-day, 52 km backpacking adventure around the perimeter of Cape Chignecto. All in all, it actually went so smoothly that there really isn't anything to riff on. The weather co-operated, we didn't run into any wild beasties, no one fell and hurt themselves, and the only "injury" was a fetus-sized blister on my foot. It was grueling, of course, but we all got 'er done and my old ticker held in there. The kids were like two gazelles, scampering ahead on the trail like it was nothing and making me feel old.

So, due to the relative "boringness" of the whole thing, I guess I'll just throw a few pictures your way.
***************************************************

First, a view of the hike from the Visitor's Centre where we started walking.

The first half hour was along the beach......

Taking a break about an hour into the hike.....

Coming into Refugee Cove, the site of our first campsite.

Heading away from the beach en route to our campsite...

Dan schlepped Jiffy Pop on the back of his pack!

Hitting the trail the morning of Day Two....

Some random scenery on Day Two....

Lunch on Day Two....

I call this one "Asshole on a Rock."

Me and the kids crossing a stream.

Daniel explores at lunch on Day Three...

The famous "Three Sisters" rock formation!

My daughter led the way for most of the hike.

Dan and Hubby eat breakfast the morning of Day Four.

..And one last shot of Bob and the kids about an hour before the end of the hike. Almost back to civilization.

It was awesome folks, and that's all I'm going to say about that.

Next: THE LONG GOOD-BYE!

did the long good-bye come early?...

the hike looks fantastic! my siblings and i tried to do a bit of the bibbulmun track a few years ago - i was loving it, my brother kept having "chunky burps" (in his defence it was the hight of summer and his big nose got a bit overheated) and then my sister secretly phoned our dad to pick us up early!

I'm loving your blog. The hiking trip scenery looks beautiful but I'm wondering - did you take the Snuggie on the hike?
