TVP Meatballs, Perfected! Hell Yeah, Baby!
OK, it's just not like me to use profanity in my posts, but I so totally KICKED FAKE MEATBALL ASS with this recipe that I couldn't suppress the celebratory expletives from bursting out of me.
YES! YES! Little balls of love, give it to me, baby! OMG, I want to take these balls to bed and slurp them lovingly. MAKE THESE NOW. And if, by some odd freak of nature, you do not like them, do me a favour and keep it to yourself. If you think they suck, you will crush my soul.

TVP Meatballs
In a small bowl, mix:
In a small bowl, mix:
1 cup hot water
1 tsp vegan Worcestershire Sauce
1 ½ Tbsp ketchup
2 Tbsp Soya Sauce
2 Tbsp beefy vegan bouillon
1 tsp onion powder
1tsp garlic powder
½ tsp black pepper
¾ tsp paprika
½ tsp thyme
Then Stir In:
¾ cup TVP crumbles
Allow to sit until cool.
Mix 1 Tbsp ground flax with 3 Tbsp water. Beat with a fork, then lit sit until it begins to gel. Set aside.
Meanwhile, In a Large Bowl, Mix:
2 Tbsp cornmeal
1/2 cup rolled oats
3/4 cup breadcrumbs
2 Tbsp flour
3 Tbsp vital wheat gluten flour
When TVP mixture is cool, stir it into the dry ingredients.
Also add:
Flax and water mixture
Mix well.
Knead dough into a solid ball.
Shape into 32 “meatballs” and fry in oil until brown. Alternately, you can bake on an oiled pan at 375 degrees for 15-20 minutes.
Use as you would any other meatball, like spaghetti or sweet and sour sauce. Do not allow the meatballs to sit in the sauce for an extended period of time; add close to the end of the cooking period, just long enough to heat thoroughly.
And here is a shot of my delicious balls in my Grandma's amazing homemade BBQ sauce over brown rice. Totally made me swoon, not gonna lie.

I've never "copyrighted" anything, and honestly I wouldn't know how. But this recipe is so fab, if I ever find out you stole it and didn't give me credit, I will so figure out where you live and sign you up for weird sexual newsletters and/or incontinence catalogues through the mail. That's a promise.

Haha, that's awesome! I will definitely give these a try.
I am impressed by your balls!
Oh wow - my partner is practically drooling - I think I will be making this very soon - don't worry - I will credit every bit to you ;) I will let you know how I go too.
Thanks heaps
Glad you had success and Happy Thanksgiving
Hey they sound totally yum! I made my first meatballs last week but next time I do them I will try your recipe instead. Then I can compare our balls!
These look really tasty. I used to have a great fake ball recipe from VT, then I lost the issue while moving.
I'll have to try these and I'll let ya know how they turn out.
Whoo-hoo! These sound fabulous! Thank you for sharing the recipe!

Hi Tracy,
These meatballs look delicious. Can you freeze the leftovers?
My girlfriend cooked these up last night - delicious! I'd be tempted to add some salt, myself, though.
Is there anything I could substitute if I don't have beefy vegan bouillon? Thanks!
We had these tonight and they were fabulous. This was a HUGE hit with the daughter & husband. I made them into burgers instead of meatballs, although I know balls would be awesome too.
Thank you a million times over--this just made living in an Omni household 100% better.
FInally got round to making these tonight- hubby came home early so was in a bit more of a rush to get it on the table and so didn't take a pic this time - but I will be making it again - hubby LOVED it. Thanks for the awesome recipe!!
These rock. Were easy to make and satisfied!
Your blog keeps getting better and better! Your older articles are not as good as newer ones you have a lot more creativity and originality now keep it up!
I made these yesterday evening and my hat is off to the chef / inventor! I just moved to the Midwest, where meat is king and Gimme Lean is unknown...so I truly appreciate help learning how to make my own vegetarian stuffs! Thank you! They were great!
These are amazing! Very easy to make and my family loves them ... I just made some and look forward to having them with dinner tonight (if they last that long!)
Yummy! Eating some now :) They were hard to keep circular in the pan, so mine are more like "meat triangles".
I made and loved these! I'm posting about them today, linking back to you :] Thanks for a great recipe!
