A Survey, Because I Am Bored.....
So, I was in the mood today to talk about myself, and what do I happen to see over at Where's The Revolution? A new survey created by Jess at Get Sconed! Perfect, says I. That's serendipity for you. Let's git 'er done!
1. What was the most recent tea you drank?
I'm drinking it right now. Cheap, No Name paper teabags that come 300 to a pack. Sure, I can afford real gauze teabags, but I just like the cheap stuff. Drives the mother-in-law crazy. Kinda sums up my personality, though.
2. What vegan forums do you post/lurk on? If so, what is your username? Spill!
The PPK, of course! I don't get much time to post on it though. Mostly just food porn when I've made something great and I'm feeling all puffed up and full of myself.
3. You have to have tofu for dinner, and it has be an Italian dish. What comes to mind first?
I'm thinking of thin tofu cutlets, dredged in italian breadcrumbs and fried, then topped with marinara sauce and cheeze, and heated under the broiler. Heck, I just may have that this weekend!
4. How many vegan blogs do you read on an average day? About ten or fifteen, ususally, unless I'm unusually bored and then it's more like forty odd. I'm bad for leaving comments, though. I mean to, but there never seems to be enough hours in the day.
5. Besides your own, what is the most recent one you’ve read? That would have to be Kari Cooks. I was looking at her collard greens and admiring the fact that she can eat them.
6. If you could hang out with a vegan blogger that you haven’t met, who would it be, and what would you do? On that one, I'm torn. It would be cool to hang with Carrie, cuz we're both Canucks who like classic rock and a good bottle of wine. But it would also be neat to hang out with Bazu, cuz I think she could teach me a few things. And I'm also betting that Tofu Mom would be a lot of laughs to chill with. Maybe we could get together as a foursome and cook dinner, because you know we'd have to eat. A lot.
7. If you had to base your dinners for a week around one of the holy trilogy – tofu, seitan or tempeh, which would it be? Seitan, of course. I worship seitan and dream about it at night. Bob gets jealous.
8. If you had to use one in a fight, which would it be? The tofu, of course. I have a feeling that getting whomped in the side of the head with a big, hearty block of tofu would make you see stars.
9. Name 3 meals you’d realistically make with that tough protein of choice!
Hmmmm.....tofu wingz with hot sauce, tofu pound cake, tofu fricassee in tofu sauce.
10. What’s a recipe in vegan blogland that you’ve been eyeing? The sausage recipes that seem to be everywhere I look these days. I refuse to make them, though, simply due to their popularity. Anyone whose been around for a while knows I'm just like that.
11. Do you own any clothing with vegan messages/brands on them? I have a shirt that says "Factory Farms and Mean and Nasty" and a "Praise Seitan" T-Shirt. I wore the seitan shirt to the grocery store one day and got glowered at by the old people. Man, folks need to learn how to spell.
12. Have you made your pilgrimage to the 'vegan mecca' yet? (Portland, duh) Course not. I'm in the frozen north. Halifax is my mecca.
13. What age did you first go vegan? Did it stick? First went veg in college, then again as a young adult. Nope, didn't stick, due to the fact that I truly didn't understand the issues with factory farming and why it's a moral choice as well as a health one. I get it now...:0)
14. What is the worst vegan meal you’ve had? Who cooked it? Bloated tofu squares in sweet and sour sauce. They soaked up about a cup of liquid per square. I cooked it, and I couldn't eat it. Bob did though, because I think he was afraid of me.
15. What made you decide to blog? My Mom did. She didn't know what vegans ate, and she lives far away from me, so I thought I would show her what we ate for dinner every night, hence my blog title. It became so much more than that as time went on, though.
16. What are three of your favorite meals to make? Panko fried seitan, pasta with wine sauce, baked beans..
17. What dish would you bring to a vegan Thanksgiving-themed potluck? The seitan turkey with stuffing, o' course!
18. Where is your favorite vegan meal at a restaurant? How many times have you ordered it? In our neck of the woods, it would be the veggie plate at the Egg Roll King restaurant. Bob and I go there for lunch about once a month. It's "our place."
19. What do you think the best chain to dine as a vegan is? Harvey's.
20. My kitchen needs ……… A Vita-Mix, a puppy, and a hunky latin assistant named Jorge.
21. This vegetable is not allowed in my kitchen…..! Brussell sprouts. Beyond disgusting.
22. What's for dinner tonight? Well, it's Friday so I'm thinking pizza.
23. Compose your perfect vegan sandwich, right now. That's easy; Peanut Butter and Jelly. I'm a very simple girl.
24. What are you most looking forward to right now? That would be surgery, next Wednesday. I'll bet you're wondering, is it surgery for a breast enlargement? Sex change? Stomach stapling? Rhinoplasty? Tune in this weekend for the scoop....

More food, less bark. :)
Awww, thanks for the shout-out Tracy! If I'm ever headed your way, I'm going to come meet you armed with a big ass bottle of wine, some April Wine CD's (vino theme here) and we'll rock out & get "happy". Of course eating will take place somewhere. PB & J would be just perfect. It's my favorite sandwich.
