Parmesan Oregano Sub Rolls, (a La Subway)- And a Shitload More Mediocre Bacon....

But my bread was a heck of a lot better! I set out to duplicate Subway's Parmesan-Oregano bread, and what can I say, I think I nailed it.

Parmesan-Oregano Sub Rolls
Get a large bowl.
Add:
2 ½ cups very warm water
1 tsp sugar
2 ½ tsp dry yeast
Allow to sit until foamy, at least five minutes.
Then mix in:
¼ cup Earth Balance shortening, melted
1 tsp powdered oregano
½ tsp powdered rosemary
1 ½ Tbsp Vegan Parmesan cheese
1 Tbsp Italian Seasoning
1 cup whole wheat flour
3-4 cups white flour, enough to make a smooth ball of dough.
Knead well, and let rise in an oiled bowl until double, about an hour. Form into six equal balls, then roll into rectangles and then into sub shapes. Allow to rise again on a cookie sheet or pizza stone. (I recommend the stone.) Allow to rise about another 30 minutes. Brush tops with non-dairy milk and dust with more vegan Parmesan and Italian Seasoning. Bake at 375 degrees for seventeen minutes.
When you remove from the oven, either rub lightly with oil or spray with PAM.

Well, your bacon sure LOOKS amazing! Wow--I am sure it is better than you think...we are always harder on ourselves than necessary!

Well, the bacon looks good sorry it is not perfected yet. I can't wait. Now, the bread looks awesome! Do you think you could make these with whole wheat flour or at least part of it? Yum!
I am hanging out for your bacon SO badly! It looks amazing at least.
And a big yum for the subway type rolls!
Hi Tracy,
I think that your bacon looks delicious. I have thought about making my own before but I thought it might be too complicated. Has it been hard to figure out?
Those rolls look amazing - and I'd take some of that bacon of your hands if I could. Not had any Vegan bacon of any description for 9 months!!
